JUST TO GIVE YOU AN IDEA!
At the risk of creating monotony and boredom, I will list, but a few, of the awards that I have been privileged to receive:
- Martindale-Hubbell is the recognized American rating source of attorneys practicing law in the United States of America and has achieved that recognition for more than half a century. It is premised upon online surveys of lawyers, in a particular field of law, rating competing lawyers in those same fields in given geographical areas with anonymous ballots being cast. The highest score that an attorney can receive as being the BEST OF THE BEST is 5.0. The ratings are published each and every year:
- Every single year in the 21st Century in which we now live I have received a 5.0 rating in the field of Criminal Defense.
- There is a special award of distinction given to attorneys who have that particular, maximum, rating for a minimum of five consecutive years and it is the PRE-IMMINENT attorney designation and I have been distinguished, as such, for more than 20 years consecutively, and
- There is still another award of distinction, symbolized by a golden star, and I don’t know the qualifications that one must have in order to achieve that recognition, but it is the highest standard of legal talent and ability that exists. I have received that particular designation and honor during the past, at least, 10 years.
- The Statewide magazine, Delaware Today, prepares a publication in November of every other year listing the best lawyers, in their particular fields of expertise, in the State of Delaware. Originally, when I first began attaining that distinction, the top three lawyers were acknowledged and recognized. That list has expanded to 10 listed attorneys. Whatever the case, I have gained that recognition in every single publication of that Magazine during the past 32years.
- I have been listed, and continue to be listed, in the present time, in the best lawyers of America publication and a sister publication of best criminal lawyers in the world with their being, the last time that I looked, a mere 582 lawyers so recognized In the entire world in which we live.
- I have been recognized by the National publication, US News & World Report, without interruption, in the annual review that recognized source provides for more than 15 years including as recently as 2022.
- My name, associated with certain high-profile cases that I have handled, has been printed and published around the world in major newspapers in a diversity of languages, around the world, on numerous occasions which I have never chosen to count.
- I have appeared and or been interviewed on ABC, CBS and NBC on more occasions than I have the time to count.
- I have appeared on live television productions, having national audiences, with celebrity interviewers, during Prime Time, somewhere in the vicinity of 30 different occasions. One that stands out, is when I was being auditioned by MSNBC as a potential legal consultant with regular appearances on different television shows that required legal opinions in criminal law being rendered and explained. During my first audition, another lawyer was someone named Nancy Grace who offered an opinion that was absolutely stupid, and I was asked by the moderator/host, “Joe Hurley, A Quick Response”. My answer was direct and quite understandable, i.e., “BULLSHIT”! That was my first and last audition of that nature.
- People Magazine asked to do a feature of me and prepared more than 300 photographs during an approximate four-hour period, in anticipation of my picture being placed on the cover of the Magazine. As it turns out, there was a competitor for that vaunted role in the form of Jodi Foster and we were, neck and neck, when the Production Director contacted me and indicated that Jodi had been selected while thanking me for the investment of my time. She added that the decision had been made on the basis that there was great interest in Jodi because she was pregnant and refused to identify the father to be. I volunteered, in a question format, that if I were to be given a month, and could impregnate (actually, I said, “knock up”) five females, but refuse to give their names, could I be considered on another occasion?” By the way, I was not!
- In the year 2022, while I was representing one of the decent people that participated in the January 6th travesty, I describe my client as suffering from a condition that I termed “Foxitis” and, as it turned out, nobody had ever used that term before and I was given credit in multiple publications for having created the word “Foxitis” – a distinct honor of creativity.

The point of bringing all this data to a printed page is simply to establish that there is no one that you will find, in terms of a legal representative, who knows more, or has done more, in the field of criminal law in the State of Delaware. Although it may be said that “talk is cheap”, but “performance is expensive” consumer of legal representation soon realizes that so much depends upon the quality and ability of the attorney selected that great care must be taken to provide the best possible results. It is ironic that the thought of having to choose a criminal attorney almost matches the thought of having to choose an undertaker because of the horrible circumstances that require a choice to be made.
